OGUN STATE AMOTEKUN RECRUITMENT.

AMOTEKUN OGUN BEGINS THREE-DAY RECRUITMENT SCREENING IN IJEBU ODE TO ENHANCE SECURITY OPERATIONS

The Ogun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps, has commenced a three-day screening exercise for candidates who successfully completed the pre-registration process for recruitment into the Corps.

The screening, which began at Itoro in Ijebu Ode, forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the agency’s operational capacity and improve security coverage across Ogun State.

Applicants from all six local government areas within the Ijebu division are participating in the exercise. The affected councils include:

  1. Ijebu Ode
  2. Odogbolu
  3. Ijebu North East
  4. Ijebu East
  5. Ijebu North
  6. Ogun Waterside

By hosting the exercise at a central location in Ijebu Ode, the Corps aims to ensure a coordinated and transparent screening process for all eligible applicants from the region.

The exercise is scheduled to last for three days, with participation restricted to candidates who completed the earlier registration process. According to the Corps, this measure is intended to streamline the exercise and ensure that only verified applicants are assessed.

The recruitment initiative reflects Amotekun’s commitment to addressing increasing security concerns through a stronger community-based policing approach.

Upon completion of the recruitment process, the Corps expects to:
• Improve response to emergency and distress situations
• Intensify surveillance and bush-combing operations
• Strengthen collaboration with the Police, Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), hunters, and community stakeholders
• Enhance intelligence gathering and crime prevention through increased operational presence

Benefits for Communities

Residents across Ijebu Ode, Odogbolu, Ijebu North East, Ijebu East, Ijebu North, and Ogun Waterside stand to benefit from the planned expansion of the Corps. The addition of more trained operatives is expected to improve security coverage, increase visibility in vulnerable areas, and facilitate quicker intervention during emergencies.

The Corps has also appealed to members of the public to support security efforts by providing useful information and refraining from spreading unverified reports capable of creating unnecessary fear or panic.

Beyond recruitment, the ongoing screening exercise represents a strategic step towards strengthening Amotekun’s presence across the Ijebu axis and building a more effective and community-focused security network in Ogun State.
