Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA) champions greener, sustainable border communities

THE Customs Officers’ Wives Association on Tuesday launched a Green Border Initiative at the Seme Area Command with the planting of 60 coconut trees at Seme Border Town in it determination to address environmental degradation and socioeconomic issues in border communities.
The group explained that the tree planting initiative aims to invest in a sustainable future by improving environmental sustainability and community development in Nigeria’s border communities.
Speaking during the launch of the Green Border Initiative and tree-planting ceremony at the Seme Customs Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, the National President of COWA, Mrs Kikelomo Adeniyi, stated that the initiative was designed to support the Federal Government’s efforts to protect the environment and promote sustainable development.
“We are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of our border communities. Through this initiative, we hope not only to beautify our border towns but also to provide economic opportunities for our women and youth.
