Group advocates institutionalisation of ESG framework

THE African Marine Environment Sustainability Initiative has urged the Federal Government and private sector players to institutionalise ESG frameworks as core instruments for governance, investment, and accountability.
This is even as AFMESI said it has secured renewed commitments from government, academia, operators, and international partners to advance environmental, social, and governance integration across Africa’s maritime and blue economy sectors.
The President and Founder of AFMESI, Mrs Felicia Mogo, disclosed this recently during the 5th Annual Symposium of AFMESI, held virtually.
The event, which was themed “The Role of ESG in Maritime and the Blue Economy”, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and development partners to explore how ESG frameworks can drive sustainable ocean governance and investment across the continent.
In her opening remarks, Mogo called for the development of a comprehensive ESG master plan to guide Nigeria’s transition towards a sustainable marine and blue economy.
