THE Federal Government, through the Minister
of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, has restated its commitment to regional cooperation and sustainable fisheries development as part of efforts to promote blue economy growth grand encourage economic diversification within the African subregion.
Oyetola stated this on Tuesday in Lagos while speaking at the Advisory Committee and Consulting Session of the 16th Conference of Ministers of the Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea.
He maintained that Nigeria remains fully committed to the objectives of the FCWC in supporting collaborative initiatives that promote sustainable fisheries, effective governance, and the economic empowerment of coastal communities.
Represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Olufemi Oloruntola, the former governor of Osun State expressed Nigeria’s commitment towards the development of the sector.
